Principals Biographies

Adam Chin - Writer/Director

Adam Chin has been making independent films for over ten years. His film Normal Deviate Behavior (co-directed with John Voltz) won the audience award at the Seattle Asian American Film Festival, and his animated short Opéra Industriel won a number of animation awards. Maladaptive is his first feature film.
Adam also does computer graphics for commercials and films.  His credits include Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, The Peacemaker, Forces of Nature, Shrek 2, Madagascar, Shrek 3, and the upcoming Madagascar 2.



Guy Stilson - Producer

Guy Stilson is an attorney, and has produced the independent films Closer Than the Girl Next Door, and Recoil. He is one of the principals of ShareWonder Films.

Roxana Ortega - Emily

Ortega is a California-born actor and improviser who trained at the American Conservatory Theatre and has performed on New York and Bay Area stages. She recently moved to Los Angeles to continue her career and to study with the Groundlings. She was in The Yoga ProjectThe Perfect Party, and was most recently seen in Miss Congeniality 2.



Mark Romyn - Roger

Mark Romyn is an actor and writer living in San Francisco. He received his theater training at San Francisco State University. He is also a professional bartender and whistler.



Graham Cowley
- Graham

Cowley, a native of the North of England, immigrated to Vancouver in the early 1970's. He was co-founder of the Actors Company, and also performed with the comedy troupe Mixed Nuts, and the Vancouver Shakespeare Festival. Now living in San Francisco, his theater credits include Ken Vega's musical Café Depresso, and the Actors Theater production of Dealer's Choice. His film credits include Devil's Metal, The Changeling, Jade, and the soon to be released Cloud Cuckoo Land with Sir Derek Jacobi.



Velina Brown - Abby

Velina Brown is an actress who works in all media: Film, stage, television, voice-over, commercials, corporate video, print.
Her film credits include: Sneakers, Nine Months, Metro, Mad City, Underwraps, Ed TV, and most recently, Bee Season. A few of her many stage credits include work with American Conservatory Theatre, Theatreworks, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, The Willows Theatre, Thick Description, Word For Word. Velina's artistic home is the Tony and Obie award winning political musical theatre company The San Francisco Mime Troupe. She is a collective member and has worked with the company for ten years. Dominic Sahagun
- Stuart

Dominic Sahagun, originally from San Francisco, is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory, majoring in Theatre. He has performed in many plays and musicals on both coasts, and he hopes to be in more movies.



Jenny Lord
- Clare

Jenny Lord works as an actor, director, choreographer, and singer. Her acting creditsinclude Berkeley Reperatory Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, California Shakespeare Theater, and San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. As a director, she has worked for Dallas Theater Center, Berkeley Opera, Pocket Opera, and others. A native of Santa Monica, she is a graduate of Yale University.

Mark Leialoha - Director of Photography

Mark is a director of photography and photojournalist whose work has been published in over 75 magazines and in 16 countries. He has worked with musicians including Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits, Alice In Chains, Metallica and Nirvana. He is currently one of the principals of Flying Moose Pictures, a video production company.



Marcus Shelby - Composer

Marcus Shelby has been playing acoustic bass for over two decades. He received a Charles Mingus Scholarship at California Institute for Arts in 1991 to study composition under flutist James Newton and bassist Charlie Haden, and was bandleader for Columbia Records and GRP Impulse! Recording Artists Black/Note throughout the early 1990's. Black/Note released four full-length recordings - Nothin' but the Swing, LA Underground, Jungle Music, and 43rd and Degnan. Shelby was also leader of The Marcus Shelby Trio, whose original recorded works include The Sophisticate, Intimate Strangers, and Un Faux Pas! In order to realize a more fuller and textured sound, Shelby began to assemble and refine The Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra in late 1998. The MSJO has recorded original film scores for the independent features King of the Bingo Game, Poetic License, and the Ralph Ellison documentary, which have all been broadcast nationally on PBS.
